Tunnels New Zealand
Abergeldie is a tunnelling and micro-tunnelling specialist with expertise in the water, wastewater, stormwater, power and rail infrastructure sectors. We construct deep pipelines in a wide range of complex geotechnical and conditions using a variety of techniques for ground support and stabilisation. Abergeldie also offers a range of services including the provision of plant and equipment.
Our operations in New Zealand have been industry firsts:
- First curved pipe jack using gyroscopic guidance.
- Longest diameter pipe jack in New Zealand
- World class slurry system
In addition to the construction of pipe-jacked, lined tunnels and blind bored vertical shafts, Abergeldie’s tunnelling expertise and achievements include tunnel construction and reconstruction using more conventional excavation and boring methods.
Recently, Abergeldie, in a joint venture with Italian tunnelling company Ghella, was selected as the preferred contractor for the construction of the Central Interceptor wastewater tunnel.
Some of the tunnelling projects carried out by Abergeldie have included the following capabilities:
- Main sewer construction
- Pedestrian underpass design and construction
- Tunnel restoration works
- Tunnel stabilisation
- Tunnel refurbishment.
