Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure has sponsored the Vinnies Van that visits Penrith and Parramatta since November 2008. Abergeldie’s sponsorship has ensured the van has adequate funding to provide food and drinks to those in need – 365 nights of the year. In addition approximately 20 Abergeldie staff, including the CEO Mick Boyle, take turns to volunteer on the van when the team is rostered on once per month.
The staff are motivated to participate for a variety of reasons. Barry who has been a volunteer for five years says “I hope that this small effort can in some way help those less fortunate than myself. I enjoy the interaction with the people that we serve.”
Mick Boyle, who also participates in the annual St Vincent de Paul CEO Sleep Out says “Abergeldie aims to build better communities, not just by providing crucial infrastructure but by working with people to improve their livelihoods.”
