CORIN DAM REPAIRS

Works involved reconstruction of a section of the zone earth, clay core and armour rock dam wall and modifications to the spillway at a potable water storage dam near Canberra. Scope included complex, detailed earthworks requiring a high degree of accuracy to improve the stability of the zoned earth, clay core and armour rock reservoir wall, and FRP concrete construction of modified wing walls and abutments to the spillway. Other works included reinstatement of the access road along the dam wall crest and modification of a bridge across the spillway.  Safety was a prime concern, as the construction site on the Cotter River is remote, with a high risk of bushfires and the ever-present possibility of flooding during heavy rain events.
