BLUE WATER TRAIL

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
For Mackay City Council as a means to improve community well-being and recreational opportunities, Abergeldie constructed 1km of raised boardwalk above environmentally sensitive wetlands and a 30m bridge over Alligator Creek. The scope also included installation of 1.2km of footpath, fencing, landscaping, street lighting, furniture and a car park.
Complex Challenges:
Working in sensitive, tidal wetlands required careful planning and implementation of environmental controls and work methods. The salt marsh and stands of mature mangroves are important environmental assets.
