Project Description:

Sydney Ports Corporation engaged Abergeldie to construct and elevated pedestrian bridge to replace the pre-existing pedestrian crossing of the freight rail line at Banksia St (Botany).

The deck of the main span was made with placed precast units over which a topping slab was poured. The footbridge is designed to Australian Standards and has a design life of 50 years. Project required barricading/demolition of the existing at-grade crossing upon completion of the new footbridge.

The scope of works included clearing and grubbing, earthworks, drainage, pavements, kerbs & footpaths, piling, adjustment of existing Utility Services to asset owner requirements, construction of in-situ approach ramps, stairs, columns and blade walls, fabrication and erection of precast ramp elements and main truss. The scope also included the installation of bridge lighting and associated electrical works, bridge handrails and throw screens, signage, landscaping and footpaths.
