Abergeldie is honoured to be a finalist in these highly coveted awards for our Barry Parade Basement Drill and Blast project.
Abergeldie provided innovative safe and economical blasting solutions to excavate in difficult geotechnical conditions. As an alternative to conventional mechanical excavation, the blasting methodology delivered by Abergeldie offered significant time and cost savings, minimised inconvenience to public, and effectively managed the risk of damage to neighbouring structures including several with heritage significance
The use of blasting as an alternative offered certainty with regard project timing and efficiency and eliminated the long duration noise impacts associated with conventional rock breaking. The risks associated with blasting were considered to be high but were not well understood in the industry. Large scale blasting of this nature had only been performed previously on one occasion within the Brisbane CBD. Abergeldie developed a solution and delivered.
