Morayfield Sewage Treatment Plant

Project Description:

Construction of a sewerage pump station well, pump chamber and dual emergency storage tanks of 190,000 litre combined capacity. The scope of works included construction of a reinforced concrete pump well 3.5m diameter 10m deep and a reinforced concrete valve chamber, and installation of new gravity and rising mains connected to the existing sewage system. Abergeldie also undertook mechanical fit out of the pump wells, electrical works, SCADA system installation, testing and commissioning.

Complex Challenges:

Prefabricated fibre-reinforced plastic tanks were designed and installed in order to minimise installation time and reduce exposure to the risks and costs associated with deep excavation.

On Abergeldie’s recommendation, Australian-made spray wash nozzles were installed in the emergency storage tanks as an alternative to the specified product, with a consequent improvement in system performance.
