WOLLONGONG ODOUR CONTROL FACILITY

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

In August 2009, Abergeldie was awarded a contract for the demolition of an old and construction of a new Odour Control Facility and extension of biosolids room including earthworks and structural works. Design fabrication and installation all FRP ductwork. Also design, fabricate and install nutrient transfer, storage and dosage systems.

Complex Challenges:

A number of innovative decisions were made for this project from the design to construction techniques. The design of chemical dosing system and the heaters for the odour system and the design of the plant involved designing a control system that acknowledges when the instruments lose calibration and raises appropriate alarms and takes remedial action. Abergeldie adapted the sequence of construction to overcome the delays by Client supplied vessels. We offered alternative construction techniques to avoid any shutdowns to existing operations whilst building the new Odour Control Facility in a working plant and the electrical room construction and cutover technique ensured there was no lengthy shutdown of the existing system.
