CUMBERLAND HIGHWAY UPGRADE

Project Description:

Abergeldie was awarded the Cumberland Highway and Wetherill Street Upgrade Project by Fairfield City Council in late June 2015.

This project was part of the Federal Government’s $200 million Western Sydney Local Roads Package over ten years, which focuses on improving the capacity and safety performance of the Western Sydney road network surrounding the new Western Sydney Airport site.

The Wetherill Street Upgrade works included widening Wetherill Street from two lanes to four lanes (i.e. section between Polding Street and Victoria), and aligns Wetherill Street North and Wetherill Street South at the Horsley Drive intersection.

The Cumberland Highway works included upgrading intersections at Hamilton Road, St John Road and John Street – road widening, new kerb and gutter, new stormwater and construction of new footpaths and pram ramps.
